CRB Services provides Community-Based Work Assessments and Job Shadowing services in partnership with the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation to help individuals explore career options, identify strengths, and build a clear path toward employment. Our services are designed to provide real-world insight into the workplace while supporting informed, confident decisions about future job opportunities.

All services are delivered in accordance with OVR guidelines and are based on approved service authorizations, ensuring a structured, compliant, and results-driven approach.

What Is a Work Assessment?

A Community-Based Work Assessment is a structured, hands-on evaluation conducted in real or simulated work environments. It helps individuals better understand their abilities, preferences, and support needs while gaining exposure to different types of work.

Our assessments are designed to provide a comprehensive view of each individual’s potential through structured, work-based activities combined with direct observation and evaluation by trained staff. At the conclusion of the assessment, CRB Services provides a comprehensive report that clearly outlines each individual’s strengths and areas for development, along with recommended employment options based on their performance and interests. The report also identifies the level of support needed to succeed in a work environment and includes clear, actionable next steps to guide continued services and employment planning.

In partnership with the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, participants have the opportunity to observe and experience different work environments, building a clearer understanding of job expectations, workplace culture, and potential career paths. These experiences support informed decision-making and help individuals move forward with confidence in their employment journey.

What Is Job Shadowing?

Job Shadowing allows individuals to spend time in real workplace settings, observing daily operations and learning directly from professionals in the field. This hands-on exposure provides valuable insight into various industries while helping individuals identify their interests, strengths, and preferences.

CRB Services structures each Job Shadowing experience to be meaningful, supportive, and outcome-focused. Individuals participate in short-term observation experiences at local businesses, gaining exposure to a variety of job roles and industries. Throughout the experience, CRB staff provide guidance and support, followed by structured feedback and discussion to help individuals reflect on what they observed and how it aligns with their interests and goals.

Job Shadowing helps individuals build clarity and confidence as they prepare for employment by increasing their understanding of personal job preferences and identifying work environments that are the right fit. These experiences improve overall readiness for employment services while providing valuable insight that can be used to guide future planning and services through the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation.
